The Best Wedding Venues in Tuscany, Italy

Rolling fields, charming villas, and a vibrant art scene make Tuscany an incredibly romantic place to get married. Tuscany is a region in central Italy, encompassing Florence, Pisa, Sienna and other dreamy Italian cities - bordered by  the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west, and by gentle hills that turn to sharp mountain peaks in the south. For couples who are looking for an elegant, stunning location to get married, this guide has a few of the best wedding venues in Tuscany, Italy.

The Best Time for a Wedding in Tuscany

Finding the perfect wedding venue is usually one of the first things that couples do as they begin to plan their dream day - but before you start browsing through the best wedding venues in Tuscany, it can be really helpful to think about wedding dates.

You don’t have to decide on a date right away, and in fact, staying flexible can help you find a venue you love, since you can see what dates they have available. But, I recommend thinking a little bit about when you’d like to get married - if there’s a season that you prefer, that can be helpful for narrowing down your options. Consider your personal preference and your schedules, as well as the weather in Tuscany.

When it comes to the best time for a wedding in Tuscany, there isn’t a bad time to tie the knot, but the months can bring a different experience. Summer is really popular for weddings, but the downside is that this is when there will be the most visitors in Tuscany. Your wedding venue will be private, of course (though it can be harder to secure a summer date), but if you want to have your honeymoon in Tuscany and explore a little, you’ll likely run into more crowds. It’s also very warm and sunny, but it can be a little too hot for an outdoor ceremony!

For these reasons, the best times for a wedding in Tuscany are September and October, along with April and May. Winters get a little gloomy, with chilly days and a lot of rain, but the late spring and early fall seasons bring amazing weather that’s comfortable for outdoor weddings, and  there are fewer crowds in Tuscany!

The Best Wedding Venues in Tuscany

Now, let’s talk about some incredible wedding venues in Tuscany - dreamy, elegant locations that make for an unforgettable place to begin your marriage.

San Galgano Abbey

The San Galgano Abbey is a truly magical wedding venue. Located in southern Tuscany, just 25 miles from Siena, it offers an exclusive location filled with history and art. The abbey was built in 1324, and though parts of it have been destroyed, this really does add to the charm. This wedding venue looks like a castle, with pointed archways and ribbed pillars, providing a space that’s both indoors and outdoors, elegant and rustic. Surrounded by rolling hills and a tree lined path, it’s one of the most incredible wedding venues in Tuscany.

Borgo di Castelvecchio

One of the most stunning farm wedding venues in Italy is the Borgo di Castelvecchio. A small medieval village overlooks the valley of the Orica river, situated in a serene setting surrounded by fields and woodlands that make this an incredibly beautiful, charming venue. There’s a private airstrip, so you can begin your adventure by landing at the venue before you’re escorted to your rooms, where you can stay to relax before your wedding day, and to celebrate after.

A small church sits on a panoramic viewpoint in the hills, and you can have your ceremony there, or outdoors amongst the greenery. Afterwards, you and your guests can have cocktail hour on a small field, next to a gorgeous swimming pool before heading to the courtyard for a reception amongst decorated tables and illuminated gazebos. Dinners typically take place by the Ancient Granary, a gorgeous space with a terrace that can host indoor receptions during the colder months.

Castello Leonina

This stunning castle is one of the best wedding venues in Tuscany for couples who want a romantic, elegant day. The Castello Leonina is a historic castle with traditional Italian charm, surrounded by picturesque hills that provide a breathtaking backdrop. Its location in the heart of Tuscany, a short drive from Florence, makes it an ideal place for a destination wedding and a honeymoon. You can get married outdoors on the lawn, with the incredible scenery around you, then have an outdoor reception in the courtyard, or move indoors to the stunning Salone Delle Feste, a large hall perfect for dancing the night away. The venue also has an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant, and plenty of accommodations for you and your guests.

Villa di Striano

Immersed in the charm and beauty of Florence, you’ll find the Villa di Striano - one of the best wedding venues in Tuscany for elegance and refined beauty. The 13th century villa sits sprawled amongst the breathtaking landscape that offers views of the Apennine Mountains, and the historic buildings exude the traditional Italian style that makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale. The outdoor areas include Belvedere Square, Stella Square, the Hydrangea Garden, and the Lemon House, each one offering a breathtaking, vibrant setting where you can exchange vows and celebrate with the people you love.

Guadalupe Tuscany Resort

The Guadalupe Tuscany Resort is located in Grosseto, and is a truly stunning countryside retreat. This is one of the best wedding venues in Tuscany for couples who want a private, intimate venue that feels far away from it all. The space is charming and rustic, with lots of greenery. Outside, you’ll find manicured lawns, verdant olive groves, and a romantic gazebo with a view of the pool. For indoor celebrations, there are several lavish reception venues that feature hardwood floors and exposed beams, creating a space that you can decorate to make it your own. This venue is the perfect combination of boho style with upscale elegance, and the rooms can host up to 80 people, perfect for destination weddings and out of town guests.
